Crayola Webinar: Collaboration and School Culture

Presented by Cheri Sterman, Crayola Director of Education
Collaboration is a 21st century skill. Working together towards a common goal and valuing the contributions of each team member is key within every learning community. Students and faculty benefit when thinking about how to compromise, resolve conflict, and reach consensus. Project-based learning that includes collaborative art experiences, build these skills. Faculty members, as well as students, leverage the strengths of the full learning community when they share ideas, respect diverse points-of-view, and overcome interpersonal challenges. Participants will receive a creative collaboration cultural assessment tool and see how “drawing the culture” can reveal insights. Discuss the “culture continuum” and how to nurture a more collaborative, creative school culture. We will share promising practices from innovative schools where creative collaboration occurs both within the school and broader community.

Learning outcomes:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of why collaboration is a 21st century skill and how to foster a stronger creative, collaborative school culture.
  • Use art sketches and a collaborative assessment tool to consider how to transform your school.
  • Be inspired by innovative schools who nurture creative collaboration within the school and with the broader community.
